Match Preview

Guus Hiddink insists he does not know whether Carlo Ancelotti will be the man to replace him as Chelsea manager but will look back on his own time at Stamford Bridge with pride.

Hiddink has transformed Chelsea since he took over from sacked Luiz Felipe Scolari in February and he will take charge of a Chelsea side at Stamford Bridge for the final time on Sunday.

Chelsea entertain Blackburn in their last home game of the season and the sense of occasion has not been lost on Hiddink.

Salomon Kalou is likely to be missing having hurt his ankle in a friendly with Manchester City in midweek. Michael Ballack, Juliano Belletti (both flu), Deco and Ricardo Carvalho (both hamstring) are also likely to miss out.

Ancelotti is tipped to replace Hiddink amid suggestions that a statement is expected from the Italian soon.

Chelsea however, say there are no plans at present to make any kind of weekend announcement, and it is difficult to see Ancelotti being allowed to do so without permission from the Blues if, indeed, any agreement has been reached.

Hiddink said: "When I started in February, I was fully committed to do my job. But, having had the response of everyone - the players, the staff, the public - it gives me a lot of satisfaction.

"It's not easy to say goodbye. But let's not be too dramatic. Unofficially, I will keep my connection with the club. By supporting them, by coming to visit every now and then.

"Sadness is not the right word. I'm not going to cry. I don't know my emotions. I have enjoyed very much working at this club, with these players.

"To be honest, when I started, I thought I'd have to fight a lot with the status of players. I though there was a pre-set mind that they would be untouchable, but we touched each other.

"I'm proud of that. Now we split, so there's a feeling of respect. Not regret, but respect."

But while Hiddink prepares to say farewell to the fans at the Bridge, much of the talk ahead of the game continues to surround his successor.

The interim coach insists that while he knows "in general" what is going on, he remains adamant the choice of his successor is Chelsea's business alone.

"There are names, but we haven't spoken about names," revealed Hiddink. "It's up to them. It's none of my business.

"They have to go forward and there's no responsibility whatsoever on their side to inform me.

"They are doing so but I don't need to be informed every day. Generally, I know a bit what is going on. I can tell you, but I won't."

Blackburn manager Sam Allardyce took a trip down memory lane as he prepared to visit Chelsea.

Stamford Bridge was his final stop as Bolton boss and his side managed to secure a point in April 2007.

Less than a day later he left the club he had steered into the top flight - and then Europe - six years earlier.

Allardyce recalled: "We had a lot of injuries and ended up with a creditable 2-2 draw. It was a nice way to finish.

"I have upset the big boys on many occasions and it would be nice to spoil Chelsea's last game at home on Sunday."

To do so Allardyce believes they will have to replicate the performance of that understrength Bolton team if they are to end a run of three successive defeats on the road.

Defender Andre Ooijer is available after recovering from a hamstring injury but strikers Roque Santa Cruz (knee) and Jason Roberts (fractured metatarsal) are again ruled out.

Allardyce said: "We have some satisfying results at home but away from home they have been extremely disappointing.

"I am looking for a much better performance and result against Chelsea. But we will need to be sound defensively.

"Everyone has to take responsibility. If we can do that and frustrate Chelsea, then we can try and open them up when we get the opportunity.

"I really want the team to put on a show the last two games as I do think we are safe."

Meanwhile, Allardyce is keen to tie up a long-term deal with on-loan defender Gael Givet.

It is understood a #3.5million move is already in place with Marseille for Givet, leaving only personal terms to be agreed.

Allardyce said: "We are trying as hard as we can and as quick as we can. I know the player wants to stay and I want him to stay. He has been a magnificent find for us.

"I hope that he is sensible enough to understand that it isn't just about finance, it is about football."
