2 CHELSEA GOAL Drogba doesn't hang about in making an impact, scoring with a supremely athletic back header after Joe Cole chips over a cross. The scorer beats full-back Zuiverloon in the air. 

9 Shot Lampard lets fly with a 30-yard free kick but it's straight at Carson.

19 Miss Lampard, on the left of the area, is fed by Ashley Cole, but slices his shot wide of the near post.

27 West Brom substitution Barnett for Mieté who had pulled a hamstring chasing Lampard.

Comment Anelka and Drogba both start with the Frenchman wide on the left and Joe Cole on the right. The three switch throughout the game in a fluid system. It's a three-man midfield with Deco dropped. Ivanovic takes suspended Terry's place with Lampard the stand-in captain. Ashley Colemakes his 100^th Chelsea appearance. The early goal does a power of good. Lampard ends a sequence of 10 games without a goal, his longest barren patch since the 2003/04 season. The second half is not without chances but top gear is rarely selected. Ballack's yellow card puts him out of the visit from Southend. The first home league win since Sunderland on 1 November takes us back on top ahead of Liverpool's later kick-off at home to Bolton
